Based in Paris, KRIBA is a luxury women’s ready-to-wear brand founded by Kristell Bannier.
KRIBA’s essence is to adapt the historical garment into a modern corset. The pieces are designed to be layered outside, subverting them from underwear into outerwear. The designer incorporates menswear details, 70s biker elements and functional aspects of sports equipment. KRIBA explores the diverse language of the corset, creating a fusion of sensuality, functionality and androgyny.
The materials used are primarily upcycled. Military surplus parachute fabric is transformed into draped trench coats and corset dresses. Transparency effects are created through layering technical jersey and tulle chiffon. Studded leather is used for lingerie and incorporated into unisex pieces, such as the biker pants. Traditional Italian flannel pinstripe reinforces the outerwear aspect of the corset. Pieces are designed and crafted in France with careful craftsmanship.
